Campo di Giove is a small village located in the province of L'Aquila, in Abruzzo, within the Majella National Park. In Campo di Giove, cultural events take place during the summer and winter mainly. On 3 January, "Il Presepe itinerante" – an itinerant nativity scene, a sacred portrayal – is set up in a small and evocative historical center of the town.
For those who like to travel in time, historical and tourist train rides are recommended, organized by ‘Fondazione FS Italiane’, which proposes itineraries on board vintage coaches along the Sulmona-Isernia line (inaugurated in 1897), also called the “Italian Trans-Siberian”, displaying in winter, in full Apennine style, local snowy mountains and valleys.
Just before the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Christmas Markets are getting open in town, with about thirty stalls offering the best local products, such as arrosticini, soups, cheeses, honey and sweets.
During the summer, Campo di Giove is characterized by a rich program of musical evenings, theatrical performances, and entertainment.
Mountain lovers have the opportunity to take hikes or simple walks in the woods and pine forests accompanied by qualified personnel, also for observation of animals, such as deer, roe deer, chamois, hares and wolves.
