Winter at Campo di Giove warms the cockles of the heart, and it does so at a gentle pace, without long queues and rushing to-and-fro, since the main thing here is the peace and calm.

Our guests know what an unpolluted atmosphere and limpid skies mean, as they descend the many ski-runs cloaked in soft white snow. The nearby mountains offer ski-lovers and winter sports fans perfect, fully-equipped facilities, with 32 km of downhill slopes, 6 km of cross-country circuits, 4 drag lifts and one chairlift.
On this, the western side of the Majella, the ski facilities continue up to the maximum height attainable in the Apennines using mechanical means – the Tavola Rotonda (2,350 metres) – from which there are wonderful views. Setting off down the slopes from here with the wind in one’s face is a real thrill.

Between laughing and joking with friends and just one more downhill run, you can stop for refreshments at a snack bar before setting off again at full speed.

There is much to be said too for the organised excursions that reveal the treasures of the area – snow-shoeing (on ‘ciaspole’ as we call them) and torchlight skiing takes one back to the days of one’s grandparents.
