NATURE, CUISINE AND CULTURE: HOLIDAYS ON A SILVER PLATTER
Just look around and Campo di Giove will entrance you.
The beauty of nature is everywhere; you can reach out and touch the green beechwoods, the shimmering pines and the meadows that skirt the Majella National Park, while enjoying a climate that refreshes both body and mind.
This is an ideal place for hiking and excursions, amid scenery unique in Italy, and in a national park that truly is one of the ‘green lungs’ of Europe.

The Majella holds some very special secrets, and wonderful excursions and walking tours can be arranged through guides and organisations.
The diversity of the surroundings, the wealth of nature and the many historical sites in the vicinity make the Majella ideal for family excursions
It is just a short hop from the comfortable rooms at the Hotel Abruzzo to the many remarkable tourist activities available nearby.
Besides enjoying the picturesque setting of Campo di Giove with its rectilinear mountains, guests can visit the distinctive local towns and villages, such as Pescocostanzo (a stroll through the carefully maintained streets and shops is particularly enjoyable), Scanno with its lake and old townhouses and above all the aristocratic Sulmona, home of the poet Ovid, which boasts a sumptuous historic centre dotted with shops displaying and selling the town’s traditional product – the famous sugar-almond confetti which are available in a thousand shapes and flavours and are guaranteed to delight..
Not to be missed either is Caramanico Terme, with its therapeutic sulphur springs and mineral waters (the only thermal spa in Italy to have both) or the wonderful Grotte del Cavallone caves.
Then there is the local gastronomy to sample. This is based on a cuisine that is simple by design but rich in inventiveness: charcuterie seasoned in the mountains, fresh mozzarellas and cheeses (at Campo di Giove cheese-making is our forte) and local lamb dishes will seduce you not only with their strong yet subtle flavours but also with a total authenticity that nowadays is hard to find.
At over a thousand metres above sea level the air is clean and fresh, there are a host of ways to pass the time and the food is divine, making for true relaxation complemented by the joys of healthy living and genuine and cordial attention from the staff.
